1. Here’s what’s happened so far
I was born, 6 pounds 2, and then went to school. At some point I experimented with a fringe which cost me a week off school due to trauma.
Journalism, travel, Uni, marriage, baby and yoga. At many points I experimented with some variation of a mid-life crisis.
Today, I was awake early, went to a 6.30am Bikram class, went down to The Basement to wash clothes, had a perfect coffee while I waited, popped my head up in Time Squares and lunched in the West Village, bought dehydrated beetroot chips for dinner and somehow lost the subway back. Eventually found it, along with the rest of the city. Rediscovered claustrophobia. Got home, took clothes off, lay on bed and woke up five hours later covered in beet crumbs. It’s almost midnight and this is the last of fifty posts in fifty days before I turn fifty which is in a few minutes here in New York.
At this point I can’t tell if I’m Arthur or Martha.
2. Here’s what will need to happen next
My beautiful family has been ringing me today to wish me Happy Birthday. I’ve had to remind them that as strange as it feels for us being in different places and time zones, nothing has changed on the Birthday Month front. In fact, if anything, we should add two weeks seeing as they sent me away for part of it.
There must be cake.
3. Thank you
Thank you if you’ve been reading along, especially thank you if you subscribed to keep up and for sending encouragement. I know it’s possible you might be feeling sorry for me turning an impossibly old age but I like to think it’s because I promised you a car.*
And now I must bid you adieu.
Well, sort of. As hugely satisfying as it feels to have achieved my self-inflicted challenge with NO WHINING (hardly at all) I’ve enjoyed getting back into the habit of writing regularly again. I will ponder on that.
It’s 11.58pm. Still living on the edge keeps me young.
Thank you again, lovelies xx
*There’s no car.
Love to hear if you’d like some further posts while I’m away?
LA next, which could be a spiritual revolution for me, and therefore you… hehe.
