Kids Yoga Afterschool Series in November
Dates – Tuesdays, beginning November 5th (last class, Tuesday Dec 3rd)
Time – 4pm – 5pm
Where – Kanuka Yoga Space
Price – $100 for all 5 classes, or $24 per casual class (drop-ins are more than welcome)

Join Erika Rodriguez as she leads a five-week Kids Yoga series – this is an after-school program, one day each week, 4pm-5pm.
Erika is looking forward to meeting the young yogis and creating a safe and nurturing space. She has completed 200HR and 300HR yoga teacher training, she is trained in Rainbow Kids Yoga and is currently studying to become a primary school teacher; we’re very lucky to have her on-board! Kids will be introduced to asanas (yoga postures), breathing techniques (pranayama), mindfulness, affirmations and guided relaxation. The practice will support focus and concentration as kids move through the final term of 2019.
Erika has themed this after-school program; ‘An adventure through Aotearoa and beyond’, and has weaved Maori words and values throughout each class. All things aside, the main emphasis is on FUN and collaboration – often led by the children’s own ideas and imagination.
AN ADVENTURE THROUGH AOTEAROA AND BEYOND!
Week 1- Rangi & Papa:
We’ll start our exploration between land and sky, meeting some Maori legends along the way!
Week 2 – Under the Sea:
We’ll start at the beach and flow beneath the waves with the other ocean creatures.
Week 3 – Adventures in the Atmosphere:
Where will the breeze take us?
Week 4 – Blast off into [Kanuka Yoga] SPACE!
We’re brave astronauts venturing into the great beyond.
Week 5 – Love for Papatūānuku:
We’ll come back to Earth to practice gratitude for the planet and all our friends on it.
Each themed class will follow a consistent structure to allow children to become comfortable and relaxed with the space. Here is an example of the basic class structure:
– Connect (to each other and the class theme)
– Move (dance, yoga postures, sun salutes)
– Play (with balancing, with each other)
– Relax (mindfulness, guided relaxation)
We’ll be sending children home on the last day with a little Polaroid token to remember their yoga practice at Kanuka Yoga.
