Nourish Retreat with Sarah Tanner

A wellness retreat on Waiheke Island with a focus on thoughtful food and the effect it has on our physical and mental health.

We are very proud to have partnered with the amazing Sarah Tanner for this retreat. Sarah not only will prepare all our meals but will also guide us through the principles of well-balanced nutrition and even demonstrate and workshop recipes with seasonal, fresh, organic ingredients.

Our weekend wouldn’t be complete without some movement to feel energised, stretch and understand the health benefits of mindful movement. We will start every morning with a Pilates session for all levels and abilities and finish our days with a slow yin yoga class for total relaxation.

If you’re looking to make a change in your daily habits, understand more how a balanced diet can help you feel more energised, motivated and put you in a much better mood, this is the perfect getaway for you. We have come to know Sarah through her blog STIL, in her own words “her happy place of inspired living”, where she shared her passion of organics, whole food, inspirational people and lifestyle tips. After a terrible bout of shingles in 2012 Sarah decided to make some serious lifestyle changes. With the creation of her blog Sarah was able to spend many hours researching and learning the best foods, ingredients and keys to success for a happy, healthy family.

Vassia Simou – organiser | host

Vassia has a background in marketing and events. Having worked for luxury brands in fashion and beauty in Athens, London and Auckland for over 15 years, she has a keen eye for detail and knows what makes a good event – its people. Her journey with yoga started in 2012 and although back then it was only a form of exercise for her, with time she found that the practice has offered her so much more in her wellness journey. And of course as a true Greek, what she loves the most is bringing people together. So just like this Koukoulee was born two years ago.


The location is a secluded, luxurious haven.

One of Waiheke’s most spectacular properties, Puriri Valley is a large estate in a stunning setting. The property sits in a rural location just minutes from Oneroa Village and enjoys stunning views stretching out over the Hauraki Gulf. It has all the benefits of being close to Oneroa, yet is a haven of peace & tranquility.

All the bedrooms are spacious and most of them are ensuite. Stylishly furnished, it offers beautiful spaces to socialise and relax and the spa pool adds an extra element of relaxation.

Thoughtful food is the star at this retreat.

We will explore, cook and taste foods that are soulful, hearty and at the same time healthy and delicious – using fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients, sourcing local and from our garden where possible.

The destination
Only 35 minutes away from downtown Auckland, Waiheke Island is beautiful haven. Here you’ll discover stunning beaches and hidden bays with crystal clear waters, some of the country’s most renowned wineries and restaurants, breathtaking bush walks. It is the perfect spot for a short break from the day to day, providing total relaxation opportunities and natural beauty. From Auckland airport catch a shuttle or taxi to Auckland’s downtown ferry terminal. From there Fuller’s ferries depart every hour. We will pick you up from Matiatia with our shuttle.
