Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop for Therapists- TC-TSY Foundation, Christchurch

This two day, evidence-based, foundation workshop will introduce mental health professionals (who may have a duel certification to teach yoga) to the core concepts and applications of the highly regarded, evidence based yoga program for adults and youth affected by PTSD, CPTSD, developmental, and/or complex trauma, dissociative disorders and other related emotional and behavioural difficulties, TC-TSY.
In this workshop mental health professionals will be introduced to specific practices and theory to support the facilitation of movement and breath practices that are trauma aware and trauma-sensitive in individual and group therapy, or in their yoga classes if they are certified yoga teachers. There will be opportunities for presentations, live demonstrations, experiential learning by doing, lived experience and an opportunity to work in small groups with maximum in-the-seat learning in a supportive atmosphere. The relationship of TC-TSY on current trauma theories and neurophysiology
Some of the core theoretical underpinnings and methods of the TC-TSY model that can be applied to facilitating trauma-sensitive somatic practices
The evidence base involving TC-TSY
Applications of Trauma aware, Trauma-sensitive and Trauma-informed yoga in individual and group therapy, as well as general yoga classes

Facilitated by TCTSY JRI Licensed Trainer and TCTSY Facilitator, Kristen Pringle, (Senior Mental Health Clinician, Clinical Educator, Occupational Therapist, Yoga Therapist & Senior Yoga Teacher), this workshop is part of the Trauma Center Yoga Program & the Center of Trauma & Embodiment at JRI, and therefore is the ONLY Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop/trainings in New Zealand accredited by JRI & the Director of the Center for Trauma & Embodiment at JRI David Emerson.
